Ron's Boat:
project Burnley
|
 |
The final coat of resin is laid
over the fabric covered hull. The
space heater valiantly tries to warm
the hull to speed drying. |
After a month of sitting, she's rolled over.
The boat with the thwarts installed and
final port gunwhale glue-up. |
 |
 |
A duck's eye view, just a few
little items to complete now.
She's ready to float... |
The current view from the bow,
one more rubdown and she'll be
awaiting paint... |
 |
 |
Gunwhale bow detail. Still needs
one more sanding to remove the
excess resin. The filler will darken
when the clearcoat is applied. |

|
See? |
The first hull coat, spot filling
along the gunwhale dictates more
sanding so paint along the gunwhale's
underside is avoided. |

|

|
Ought to look pretty when the second
coat goes on and the gunwhale is
sanded & clear-coated. |

A battery box neatly solves that item's fate. |
The motor shaft shortened nicely.(-9") |

|

|
The battery attachment device. I corrupted a
plastic switch box and glued it to the hull.
An old set of jumper cables serves the juice.
Motor clamps in place (soon to be ring
terminals with color coded hoods).
Note the slice of rail...used to clamp the
box to the hull...resting on the thwart. |

|

|
Couldn't stand the look so it's not raging blue
anymore. And, here's a look at the "boots"...
All is ready for your return. |
 |
The battery placement now trims the boat
correctly for soloing. I'm still considering the
addition of extra ballast in the bow since it
handles so well with two passengers. |
